Personalization Options

There are numerous ways to personalize the Encrypta cryptex to allow you to make it a thoughtful and appropriate gift for any individual, any circumstance, and any occasion.

• Secret Code selection (code that unlocks the cryptex and provides access to hidden chamber-key).
• "Hidden Code" selection (words or other character sequences that appear on other tumbler faces when the secret code has been correctly dialed in).
• Riddle for secret code printed on Encrypta greeting card.
• Treasure-Gift selected for placement in chamber-key.
• Personal message printed on Encrypta notepaper for placement in chamber-key
• Message or graphic on underside of bottom plate (printed on brass plate or laser-etched into the wood)

 Below is just a sampling of vast number of ideas for personalizing your cryptex.

Secret Code

Secret codes can be any 7 character sequence. For the Laser-Etched model, you can use letters, numbers, symbols, blanks, or any combination. The Tumbler-Insert version comes with a set of permanent adhesive inserts which includes 4 of each letter, three blanks and some other characters. In the future, other sets of inserts will be available which will include numbers and symbols.

The secret code could be a riddle answer, romantic message, person's name, date, school or team name, business milestone, patent number, appreciation message, word puzzle, math problem, holiday name, phone number, or meaningful event.

Here are some specific examples.

For our laser-etch model, you can pick your own custom secret code or select from our list of codes (see shopping cart) or list of riddle/code combinations.

NOTE: The characters on the other tumbler faces of the laser-etched cryptex will be generated by our cryptex layout program. Unless you tell us other wise, these characters will be.

• Letters, if your secret code selection consists of letters, blanks and symbols.
• Numbers, if your secret code selection is a number.
• Both letters and numbers, if your secret code includes both.

"Hidden Code"  

A "hidden code" is a character sequence that appears on other tumbler faces when the secret code has been correctly dialed in. There can be up to seven "hidden codes." For example, one customer asked us to etch each of her children's names in the seven available tumbler faces.

Here are some other "hidden code" ideas:

·         Secret code and "hidden code" combination is a two-word phrase (e.g., LOVEYOU, FOREVER)

·         Date (e.g., anniversary date, birth date, holiday year)

·         Name (e.g., person, sports team, school)

·         Number (e.g., patent number, phone number, lock combination)

Gift-Treasure

The possible gifts you can place in the cryptex hidden chamber-key are only limited by your imagination. Here are just a few of the possibilities:

• Cash
• Check
• Gift Certificate
• Jewelry
• Personal Note
• Key (e.g., to a lockable box, a car, a room filled with gifts)
• Treasure Hunt Clue
• Directions another location for a surprise party
• Website address with a link to a vacation destination
• Phone number to call

Bottom Plate Message Ideas

The underside of the bottom plate can be personalized with a message or graphic – using a printed brass plate or by laser-etching directly into the wood.

Here are some ideas for how you might take advantage of this space:

• Recipient name and date
• Riddle text for the secret code
• Company logo and tag line
• Personal message
• Memorable quote
• Event name and date
• Award description
